Chapter 4 - When Silence Finally Broke

At 5:00 p.m., the second wave began.

Not from them.

From me.

My lawyer filed everything.

Every screenshot.

Every comment.

Every name.

And then—at my request—one more thing.

A formal notice of intent to release supporting evidence publicly if harassment continued.

Miles read it twice.

“You’re warning them.”

“I’m giving them a choice.”

“And if they don’t take it?”

I met his eyes.

“Then I finish it.”

At 5:17, my phone—back on now—lit up.

Dad.

I answered.

Finally.

“What?”

His voice came fast.

Angry.

Panicked.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“Protecting my daughter.”

“It was a joke!”

“No.”

“It was.”

“You called a six-year-old a mistake.”

“You’re twisting—”

“Forty-seven people agreed with you.”

“That’s not my fault.”

“It is your post.”

Silence.

Then a different tone.

Lower.

“You need to drop this.”

“Or what?”

A pause.

Then:

“Things will get worse.”

I almost smiled.

“I already know about the fake messages.”

Dead silence.

Then—

“What messages?”

Too late.

“You should have checked your formatting.”

He breathed out slowly.

“You always were difficult.”

“And you always underestimated me.”

Another pause.

Longer this time.

Then he said something that made everything click into place.

“You think you’re the only one who kept records?”

My grip tightened on the phone.

“What does that mean?”

“You’ll see.”

The line went dead.

I stood there.

Still.

Miles looked at me.

“What did he say?”

“That they have something.”

“What kind of something?”

“I don’t know yet.”

But I would.

Because whatever they had—

It wasn’t going to be enough.

Not anymore.

Not after years of silence.

Not after what they did to Lily.

I looked out at my daughter again.

Still drawing.

Still safe.

For now.

And I made a decision.

No more quiet.

No more tolerance.

No more family.

Only truth.

May you like

And this time—

I was ready to let it be seen.
